Indian Shores subdivision is a lovely, family-friendly residential area located on Lake Martin in Dadeville, Alabama, which was developed by George and Jean McMillan beginning in 1966. They recorded plats and covenants for the neighborhood. They also created Indian Shores Park as a place that all then and future property owners could gather and enjoy the fun activities available on beautiful Lake Martin. They instituted park rules to keep order and maintain safety while providing pleasure and fair treatment to all. The lake was later declared Alabama’s Treasured Lake for meeting special quality standards and nutrient enrichment. Awesome, life-long memories have been made there.
At a meeting in October, 2007, the property owners in Indian Shores subdivision committed to the McMillans and to each other to assume the responsibility and expenses to preserve and maintain the Park in perpetuity for the benefit of present and future property owners within the neighborhood. They formed Indian Shores Property Owners Association, Inc. (ISPOA), elected officers, and set the amount of an annual fee to accomplish those goals. The McMillans then deeded the park to ISPOA. Since that time, property owners in the neighborhood have paid dues, made donations above and beyond dues, and volunteered their time to manage ISPOA and to make the park the wonderful asset it is to the community. Only paid members and their guests are permitted to use the park facilities.
